Great ways to use up leftover wrapping paper.

Sometimes I do something and wonder why hadn't I ever thought of that before...this was one of those moments. We finally took down our tree today (right before my 2nd craft failure). Of course like usual I didn't have a great way to pack up our breakable ornaments. Every year I say I am going to buy some ornament storage boxes, yet never do. So this year I got the bright idea to use up my leftover wrapping paper by wrapping up our breakable ornaments with it.

I never knew how much fun you could have with a roll of wrapping paper.
It was definitely worth the few bucks that were wasted.

Not only is it fun to hide in, but you can also use the backside to color on. Just tape a huge section of it onto your table and let the kids color. Yes, hours of entertainment for just a few bucks, gotta love that!
And don't forget to save the roll on the inside to wrap your lights around.
Who knew one roll of wrapping paper could be so entertaining.
And that wrapping up our tree would be just as fun as putting it up. Yes, there were a few melt downs over the pig and chicken being packed away, but it will make playing with them next year just that much more special.

Do you have any other great uses for leftover wrapping paper?

  1. I use leftover wrapping paper to send packages in the mail...Just be sure to use the white side or a BIG white label for the address. I also keep it for coloring paper for the grandkids when they visit... You can also use it for pattern making...line your drawers...book covers...cut them into uniform pages and staple together for a book of drawing paper..

  3. I love all of these ideas. I had never even thought to use it for ornaments. I like to save the prettiest wrapping paper and use scraps of it on thank you cards. It's a fun way to remember each year.

  5. I found some polystyrene (styrofoam?) balls at a local craft shop and got my daughter to cover them in strips of wrapping paper using lots of lovely glue. After a quick dunk in glitter they make lovely Christmas baubles!

  7. When assembling 90 gift baskets a few years back, I bought a shiny roll of wrapping paper and ran it through a paper shredder for gift basket grass or whatever its called. Much cheaper. I've continued to do this through the years.
