Easter dress #1

At the beginning of the week I was really nervous that I was not going to be able to finish our Easter dresses. But yesterday just seemed to be the day to get a lot done.
I didn't have a pattern to use since the pattern I had bought was missing the bodice piece. I guess you will have that when you buy a vintage pattern from the thrift store. So I just got one of their dresses to use as a guide for construction and then cut up an old tank top to use as the template for the bodice. It was shockingly easy! And now I'm hooked! After making this one I couldn't wait to get started on the next dress, so I actually finished Easter dress #2 before heading to bed last night. They actually go together really quick. The most time consuming part was hemming all the edges.

For the bottom part of the dress I just used two circle skirts. I guess we have a thing for circle skirts in this house. I just love how they twirl and so don't the girls!

Now I just have to make sure dress #2 fits one of my little girls and then I'm off to finish a dress for myself.

  6. Love the fabric and color combo! Super cute! Just wanted to say that in case you don't know of it yet, there is something called a hemming foot. I'm totally kicking myself, because I owned one for about 4 years, without realizing what it did (I bought a used machine that came with loads of feet). When I finally used it, I almost wanted to cry...happy tears and almost angry tears, because I was upset that I didn't use it earlier...if you go to this post on my blog, you can see some pictures of me using it. YouTube might have some videos too...basically, you don't need an iron or anything...just once with the sewing machine. Anyhoo...looking forward to seeing your creations in the PR&P Sew Along!
