Using canning jars for weight loss.

So I officially started a diet. Spring weather has already hit here in New Hampshire and I have no clothes that fit other then my black yoga pants. Plus with my belly still being swollen from surgery I am at even more of a loss for clothes that fit. So a diet I will start!
For breakfast I like to have cereal with fruit. But let's face it measuring out your cereal is no fun, plus looking at that 3/4 of a cup of cereal in a big bowl makes me want to quit my diet already. So this morning I decided to put my cereal in a canning jar. As most of you know the sides of a canning jar have measurements on them, so no need for dirtying your measuring cups. But the best part is by putting my cereal in a canning jar it looks like I'm eating a lot...I like that!

So hopefully these little canning jars will help me loose some weight. Any other great tips for me?

  2. Use a smaller dinner plate. Same effect... looks like more than it is and less room to pile stuff on. Use a salad plate instead. Also make sure you're eating 5-6 small meals/snacks a day. All of them should be atleast 50% fruits or vegetables. For a snack pair yogurt and an apple or banana. Etc. It has helped me a lot! Down 10lbs already :) It has only been 3 weeks!

  3. Smaller plates/bowls for sure :) I had to lose 10-15lbs a couple years ago and had little to no success until I used fitday.com (the free version). Food tracking with graphs, weight loss tracking, activity tracking too. It takes a little bit of time but not too much and I was successful quickly after starting to use that.

  12. I just stumbled across your page and it's fabulous! I gained 50lbs while pregnant and I lost it all thanks to Weight Watchers (as always) and www.yonanas.com for their "yonana" machine. I've done some pretty cool recipes and I don't have to feel guilty. Keep the great ideas coming for us new mommies!! =)

  13. Have you seen the Salad in a Jar blog? http://www.salad-in-a-jar.com/how-to-make-salad-in-a-jar-2 She shows how to suck the air out of the jar so the lettuce stays crisp. Kinda interesting. Then if you have a handy little jar of lettuce ready to go you might be more likely to eat it. I haven't actually tried it myself, but your post made me think of it.
