Sticker book obsessed!

Are your kids obsessed with stickers? Mine are! While I love giving them stickers to play with, I don't like finding them all over the house. Here is a little book I made to keep us both happy.

Supplies:

  • fabric scraps (mine were about 10" long and 4" wide)
  • laminating sheets (can buy them at Jo Ann fabrics)
  • stickers
Cut 5 pieces of fabric to desired size.
I cut mine 10"x 4".

Laminate the fabric per instructions on laminating sheets.

After laminating. Take one piece of laminated fabric and fold in half like above. This is going to be the center page.

Trim all the edges.
Sew 2 pieces of laminated fabric together, wrong sides facing. (I zig-zag stitched mine.)
Repeat with last two pieces of laminated fabric.

Should have this now.
Make a book with the pieces and sew together on fold.

Trim edges.

My favorite part about the book is how the laminated fabric allows them to remove the stickers and reuse them, but I have to warn you, beware of this!

I knew something was going on when I heard 3 little hooligans laughing away!

Here is another sticker book we put together by using plastic baggies, scrapbook paper, and a few ribbons. I decided to sew the book together instead of using staples because it is safer.

There! A little book for sticker obsessed kids.

embrace the camera {searching for cows}

Join us.

Searching for Uncle P's cows always begins the same way. With a trip to Mc Donald's for juice boxes and an ice coffee.

We sit patiently waiting for the cows to come off the mountain, while rocking out to kids tunes and drinking our drinks.

No sign of any cows today. But we were were lucky enough to find a little treat growing in Grampa's yard.

While we never know what we are going to find when we set out to search for Uncle P's cows. The beginings and endings are ALWAYS the same.

There is ALWAYS one happy boy awake, still chattering away...

while she is ALWAYS sound asleep with both juice boxes...

and I am ALWAYS thankful that we are easily entertained by a $3.95 trip to Mc Donald's and an hour of searching for Uncle P's cows!

2 little hooligans turned superheros!

For the past few weeks once the kids are finished with supper they are transformed into SUPERHEROS. With the kids wrapped in baby blankets we run around hiding and roaring at each other. Why roaring? I don't know, for some reason my son has decided we are going to roar like dinosaurs while we hide and chase each other around?!?!? Hmm.
Anyways, I was beginning to feel guilty. There are so many cute capes out there right now. And every superhero needs a real cape, right? So here is what I came up with. I copied my logo and used some matching fabric scraps to come up with these.

She loves running around and watching it fly in the wind.

While, he is taking his superhero job a little too serious.

2 little hooligans...
saving the world one hug at a time!

country bumpkin bunting

I LOVE bunting. I love any type of bunting, and every style of bunting. I love how it looks at parties as much as I love it hung in the home. You could say I have a minor obsession with it. The problem is, I have no place to hang it and no parties planned. So whats a bunting obsessed girl to do, but this...

take some baling twine, add a few fabric scraps,

and hang it here...

in my farm stand.

Because you know when people are buying my veggies, they so want to look at bunting, right? At least this has gotten me over my bunting obsession, well, for now.

Fresh Veggies anyone?

Oh wow, Look where my play tent is being featured today!

BCD

Thanks Becca for featuring me!
Now head on over to Becca's blog and see the sock wreath tutorial she did on TV!!

Sorry for the lack of craft tutorials but this is why...

The garden needs to be picked EVERYDAY.
And whatever we don't eat fresh daily, I am canning, baking, or freezing it.
Plus, I have a little farm stand where I put out some of our garden goodies for others to enjoy. I'm planning on posting about that later. I have to share with you my latest creation with Mod Podge.

And I have been busy baking all of these...

Because Grampa brought us all of these...

About 3 gallons of fresh blueberries!
Oh and we also...
put up more siding on the barn, and
I finally organized and made a craft storage area for myself.
PHEW! It was a busy weekend. They always are.
Hope your enjoying your busy summer!

cupcakes in a canning jar

I was asked by Michelle of Mainelyhome to put together a tutorial for my cupcakes in a canning jar. If you get a chance, go check out her blog. She shares with her readers, her love for etsy, good old country living, and the state of Maine. I love reading about all the unusual events that Maine has to offer.

This has been one of my favorites lately, cupcakes in a canning jar. Its great! You can bake, frost and freeze them right in the jar. Whats even greater, my husband can take them to work and just eat them right out of the jar. It is amazing what you can do with canning jars. I'm pretty much convinced that if you can cook it, then you can cook it in a jar!

To get started you will need:
Canning jars ( I prefer to use 1/2 pint, pint jars and jelly jars.)
Cupcake recipe and all the ingredients to go along with it.
Frosting
Non-stick cooking spray.

Pre-heat oven to desired temp and prepare cake mix per recipe.

Spray jars with non-stick cooking spray.

Fill jars 1/3 of the way or a tad bit more. Do not fill more then 1/2 full, as the cupcakes almost double in size.

Bake jars directly on oven racks. They will bake in less time then usual, so keep checking them.

Bake until cake tester comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely.

Use a cake tester to loosen up the cupcake in the middle.

Push piping bag as far down as possible and squeeze in some frosting.

Finish off with more frosting.

And if the kids are around, you know you are going to have to add some sprinkles!
Lots of them!

I like to use the plastic lids. They are easier and safer with the kids.

As you can tell, I didn't spend time trying to make them cute. The kiddo's were "helping" mommy and they were not going to wait any longer to dig in. So party planning girls out there, I'm leaving this one to you. Let's see them on a dessert table! How cute would these be for a kids birthday party?

While I love cupcakes in a canning jar, I lOVE these ones even more...

Brownie sundaes in a canning jar!

Thanks em for the great tutorial on the umbrellas, we had a good time making them.
